Note: The beef industry includes all broadacre farms with more than 50 head of cattle. A specialist producer earns, on average, more than 50% of receipts from beef cattle in all the years the farm was surveyed. Non specialist producers are beef cattle producers who earns, on average, less than 50% of receipts from beef cattle sales.

Note: A sheep producer is any broadacre producer with more than 200 head of sheep. A specialist sheep producer is a sheep producer who earns more than 50 per cent of receipts from the sale of sheep, lambs or wool. All sheep producers who do not meet this criterion are classified as nonspecialist sheep producers.

Note: The slaughter lamb industry includes all broadacre farms with more than 400 head of sheep and, on average, sold more than 100 slaughter lambs in all the years the farm was surveyed. A specialist producer earns, on average, more than 20 per cent of receipts from the sale of lambs for slaughter in all the years the farm was surveyed. Non specialist producers are slaughter lamb producers who earn, on average, less than 20 per cent of receipts from slaughter lamb sales.
