Resource management survey

Resource management data
The Natural resource management on Australian farms report presents results from a 2001-02 survey on resource management on Australian farms, which was funded by the National Landcare Program. The survey was designed to investigate awareness and management of land degradation by Australian broadacre and dairy farmers, as well as influences on the management of land degradation, including participation in Australian Government natural resource management programs. Previous surveys on Landcare and land management were undertaken in 1998-99, 1995–96, and 1992–93, which allows comparison of results over time.

In addition the data from the 2001-02 survey have been placed into a web based package. This data package includes information on reported degradation on farm and actions to address degradation; Landcare and production group membership, involvement in Natural Heritage Trust and the National Action Plan, and what was gained from participation in these groups and programs; Involvement in AAA programs, training activities and farm plans as well as adoption of management practices and expenditure on land care works. Insight into the financial and physical profile of farms and landholder demographics is also available, as the data has been integrated with ABARE's main broadacre and dairy survey.
